October 2017 Update #16

Hello Team,

Here’s a new format intended to help you better understand what we’re working on. Two quick updates here and exciting things coming up for our next update!

The story:

Walkthrough pushes out technology to automatically create 3D tours of homes being developed or also known as new builds.

Catch me up:

To date, if an architect, a builder, or a realtor wanted to show what a development would look like before the property was built, it would cost approximately $5,000 dollars. Moreover, the builders would get a 3D rendering and a few still images of the home being developed. The entire modeling process takes several weeks to months. Up until now creating these assets has been an entirely manual process. The process of creating renderings required a 3D modeler to build a model home on their computer by creating walls, knowing about lighting, and then render the entire model to create photos from them.

What’s the latest:

We’ve developed a process where a developer can send us blueprints, and then 3D tours are automatically created.

What’s the difference:

Walkthrough has taken what has historically been an entirely manual process, and automated it. Today, Walkthrough could deliver the same product within a day instead of several weeks.


The story:

Walkthrough enters the slowing winter season.

Catch me up:

Two-thirds of homes sell in the summer, because not only are children not in school but also, houses are traditionally more appealing when trees are in bloom, as compared to the gray depths of winter. In short, all real estate related industries do significantly less volume outside of the summer months.  

What’s the latest:

Although we grew during the month of September, Walkthrough is now going through the expected downturn of winter. 

What’s the difference:

Instead of spending our time handling day-to-day issues, we’re starting to streamline and automate a good portion of our operations. The additional time allows us to continue improving product features, streamline our operations, and prepare for launching in additional cities before Q1.
